Any cable or telephone operator that does not recognize their primary role as an internet provider in today's era is destined for failure. Very simply, to the end user, they supply Wi-Fi (more mature technicians and engineers agree that wired Ethernet is still king in terms of reliability). That said, when you consider that the people who own and operate the cable infrastructure still provide us with connectivity, you are likely to see business models changing. Hopefully, this will be a positive development for the majority of users where true competition exists. However, for areas underserved by competing technologies, the market forces could favor the providers. Watch this space…
